For over 30 years, Garry Sutherland has transformed reclaimed automotive materials into extraordinary rolling works of art. Using salvaged vehicle scrap metal along with hand-shaped copper and aluminum panels, his creations blend classic craftsmanship with imaginative design.
One of his most distinctive builds was constructed over a golf cart chassis and features a 1938 Cadillac fender forming the front end, paired seamlessly with a 1953 Buick hood in the rear. Joined together with hand-set rivets and custom-fabricated metalwork, the vehicle was designed primarily for the Burning Man festival, while also appearing at select automotive shows and exhibitions.
Garry’s passion for metal shaping extends beyond vehicles. His one-of-a-kind cigar chair, crafted entirely from copper and aluminum, showcases the same dedication to artistry and detail. Every component was hand-built, hand-polished, and fabricated from scratch, reflecting countless hours of skilled craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to creating truly original pieces.
